Blast into 2013

So it's new years day.

I somehow managed to conjure up enough energy to go for a little surf.  I ate a damnnn-good toasted haloumi sandwich from the bakery at Suffolk Park  and now I think I'll give a tasty little recap of what 2012 meant to us and Cottage.

It all began on a chilly Thursday evening in late September.  The fireplace was freshly stoked, and Feni and I gave birth to our very first bouncing baby board - The Pilot.

Actually, it might be best if you disregard that analogy...

Here's a better one.

After weeks of wrestling with the toxic turbo-demons of board construction, we emerged victorious from the rubble of broken and burning boards, hands held high, now very (in)toxicated, and also very, very stoked.

Obviously we skated the larb out of them - here's the story of the firs... ahh... second board we ever made .  Hah, larb.

From there, we kept making boards (and not just for ourselves :))

Here's one we made for our friend Jay (just about the most terrific lady in the whole bloody world).

This one was for Kit (probably the most generally and consistently hilarious cat I know) he wanted a simple design with the cottage logo on it, so that's what he got.  I think it worked out prettttty nicely...

The bulldog stencil'd board is for Romy, Rob and Sir Arnold (their pup) - Merry Christmas guys!  Hope the board is treating you all very nicely!  I can't wait to see you your skills, and it's so rad seeing your lil family flourishing - you're all bloomin' brilliant.

This one is for our dear friend Rose-mould - Keep your cap backwards and you'll be radical in no time :)

In community news, we've been really stoked with what the groms from Animal House Reference have been putting out there, so we thought we would chuck 'em a custom skateboard for the "steeziest" rider at their Slide Jam comp.

Jackson Sibley seemed pretty stoked with the idea.  (and yo Jackson, if you read this somehow, holla at me and we'll tee up that board, I lost your number)

And I think that pretty much brings us up to the hairy end of it...

The year that is.

It's been such an enjoyable few months.  I can't bloody wait to see what lies around the corner... *Hint* we have some bigggg plans.

Now, I want to leave you with something to ponder.  I read this quote the other day, and I think it's something we should all think about...

"A man never discloses his own character so clearly as when he describes another’s."

So if they're your mates, make sure you let other people know why.

Happy new years!
